Up to now I’ve been using Media Composers, Film Composers, AvidXpress, and Meridian based systems. I just finished a projet on an Adrenalin however and found the keyboard setup frustrating to say the least– Yes I know you can remap the keyboard but I could not remap my favorite editing tool [the extend tool] to my most used key (F1) because each time I hit F1 it would bring up Avid’s help system and would not allow me to re-assign the key. So I re-mapped XTEND to another key but my brain-to-hand memory of 11 years of F-1 would not allow me to remember the new position (especailly during the graveyard shift I was working last week) and therefore had to then close the help box and hit the new key each time.. anyway to prevent this in the future? Any trick to disable the help screen from coming up?

    Thanks in advance

You can’t remap the F1 key on the newer Avids. I guess they want to make sure people can always get to the help files.

As far as disabling help so it doesn’t pop up when your muscle memory kicks in–maybe remove the Help executable? You might get an error message or Avid might crash if you do this, so proceed with caution!
