Avid 8.3.1 media is crashing Avid 7.0.3
Hello!
I run Avid 8.3.1 on OS X 10.8.5.
I’m background transcoding a standard def QT (H.264 480 x 360 44.1 Stereo) into a 1080p/29.97 project. Then I’m bringing that bin into a 1080p/23.976 project (still on MC 8.3.1). That all works fine, no problems at all.
The problem arises when I copy the bin & media to another machine running Avid 7.0.3 on OS X 10.9.4. When I try to open the clip or sequence, it hard-crashes the Avid (segmentation fault).
It’s worth noting that this workflow is fine going in the other direction (background transcoding on a 7.0.3 machine, then copying bin & media to an 8.3.1 machine). But it doesn’t work when I go 8.3.1 –> 7.0.3.
Any help is greatly appreciated — thank you!

It might be worth trying to 7.0.4 which may have more backwards compatibly with 8.x.
