AVID 12.3 Import Issue/Error
Hello All – I’m looking for some help with an AVID import issue I am having. I’m using a Macbook Pro 12.3, running AVID Media Composer 2021.12.3. Any time I try and import a file (audio or video) Import Media doesn’t work at all (I can click a file, but nothing happens). If I go to File_Import_Source Browser, select the file, the following error comes up: The files/Volumes …cannot be imported. Do you want to link and consolidate/transcode instead? If I choose Yes, depending on the file, it will load. But usually for video or gfx files it doesn’t work and I have to Link to the file. Which isn’t always helpful when you are importing gfx that we not rendered correctly or photos that need a different import setting.
I’ve been editing with AVID far longer than I’d like to admit (I’m old 🙂) and I’ve never encountered this issue before. Any suggestions on how to fix it?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Typically that means you have a format that isn’t compatible with the import engine..or I suppose you need a codec installed.
What type if file/compression is it?
