I would be very grateful if anyone could propose a solution to the following. I have number of .avi files, downloaded by a colleague from a Sony Handycam and presented to me for editing. Analysis of the avi files in FCP 6 shows I am dealing with 1280x720p30, but only the audio is present. The video does however run in Div X player, which tells me the codec is AVC. I therefore installed the Xvid codec from the Quicktime components webpage, but FCP will still not play them. Any ideas, please?

    Many thanks,
    Michael

Slightly embarrassing to respond to one’s own post, but in case any user of this forum experiences the above issue in future…

The solution is a program called Perian, which provides native support in Quicktime (and therefore also FCP), for various odd codecs such as that mentioned above.
