I have had trouble importing an AVI into Premeire. The AVI file plays perfectly in VLC media player, but when I try to view it in the sequence panel, the audio track cuts in and out and the video is at about 16 – 32x speed… Has anyone had this problem??
    Thank you!

What codecs are used in your AVI file?

I am using a cvid codec. However, I only tried this Cinepak codec because the usual codec I use (dvsd) was also ineffective in attempting to correct this issue. I must note that I only have problems with this one file. Every other time I have performed this operation (with the same settings) I have never had problems. I am an Austrlian designer and received a DVD (movie clip) from a work partner in the USA.
Please pardon my ignorance, but could this have something to do with PAL and NTSC?? (I have tried opening and importing the same file in an NTSC based project – and I had the same problem)
    Thank you

[Michael Noone] “and received a DVD (movie clip)”

By that I take it you mean a data DVD, not a video DVD.

PPro can handle both PAL and NTSC in the same project, so that is unlikely to be the problem.

I don’t know the codec you are talking about, but I would suggest you convert it to standard DV before importing it into PPro for best results.

    Cheers
