    Im having some trouble.

Vegas wont open all AVI movies, and I dont get why. Sometimes it opens em and sometimes it doesnt.

Ive tried with DivX codec and Xvid and nothing seems to work.

Its almost as the program randomly chooses which AVI it wants to open.

When it doesnt open it only build peak for the audio but the movie doesnt appear.

I can assure you that Vegas does not randomly choose to not open certain avi’s. You are trying to either open a file for which you do not have the codec installed ( mjpg for example ) or a file type that Vegas does not support.

Do a google search for a program called gspot. It can examine your problem file and tell you what codec is needed to play it and if the needed codec is presently installed.

    gspot is a free tool.

Ok thanks but I still have a problem. I have the latest DivX, DirectX and Xvid installed and still the movie wont open.

The movie is coded with XviD and still the movie wont open in Vegas.

If you have one of those media files that is not extremly large
perhaps you could email it to me and I will play with it and see if I can find a useful workflow.

How large is the filesize of a clip that will not work?

    Regards, Rick.
