An AVI is only the wrapper. It’s what’s inside that counts. If you use MediaInfo that will spring the DATA for us to see.

July 13, 2018 at 2:22 pmOK, I’ve not seen a Blackmagic 8 bit MJPEG Codec wrapped in an AVI. Maybe Vegas is having an issue with that. BTW, you don’t have the Video Track muted?

July 13, 2018 at 2:28 pmI believe the footage is from a hidden camera of sorts, like a nanny-cam for spying on the nanny. The camera might have been the size of a golf ball. The video, when played back on VLC player, seems to be handheld but coming from inside a toy or something. If the footage says something about a BlackMagic camera, then I will guess it’s one of those cube size cameras, like the GoPro.

July 13, 2018 at 2:50 pm[Freddy Rodriguez] “Graham, have you edited video before?”
Once or twice. But over the short time I’ve been shooting and editing I keep my captured Media as simple as possible. Mike knows this ????.
I’ve done some research on this BM CODEC for you. Very interesting thread for you to consider here on the Official Vegas Forum. It’s written by some of chaps that have helped me. This thread goes back 10years. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-8-0b-and-blackmagic-intensity-pro–62525/

July 13, 2018 at 6:08 pmI have a copy of Blackmagic’s free software, DaVinci Resolve. It has the same issue: it ingests the footage but shows up blank in the preview window. Audio is fine.

July 13, 2018 at 6:17 pmI’m calling it, guys. Time of death: midnight. I don’t want to keep the client waiting. I’ll let them know my software wasn’t playing nice with their footage, and lose the sale. Looks like it’s dumpster diving again this week for food ???? (sad violin music)
I’d like to thank everyone who offered help. Graham, too!
