    AVI file 640 by 480 will play in Media Player but video component is lost in Vegas, only the audi track functions

    Where did the video come from? If it was from a digital still camera the video is MJPEG which needs a codec such as Morgan (do a search) installed first.

    yes the AVI file was produced by a digital camera, I note that the frame rate is unusual such as 19 fps..640×480, but there is no other info in the properties

    the camera recored them as IMAG…AVI
