Hello I recorded a video with a photo camera – Canon S5IS at frame size 640×480 30fps. When I import the files into the Final Cut, I get black stripes in the right and left sides of the image. I have already tried changing the frame size in the sequence and audio video settings but still get the same result. If I change into anamorphic I get a stretched like image with no black stripes on the sides or up and down. I think it is simple to solve but I don’t know which setting to change to solve it.

You have to convert the file to an editing format. AVI isn’t something FCP works with. Use Compressor to convert it to DV/NTSC.
