I get a lot of clips from a lot of sources. Much of the time these are AVI clips, but I cannot open them on my Mac (The PC opens them).

I got Flip-4-Mac (the free version) but that didn’t help, nor did the other codecs that I could find.

Is there a good plug in or bundle of codecs I can add to my Quicktime so it it will play a greater variety of AVI files? And more importantly, that I can use to convert the files to something useful?

There are literally hundreds of obscure and proprietary AVI codecs but only a scant few were ever ported to the Macintosh and they all died back in the last century. Your only hope is to use a PC to convert them to Quicktime.

AVI persists only because of billions of ancient PCs.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
