  AVCHD Lite / PremPro CS4 / CPU & Vid Cards – Need Advice

  I’ve used AVCHD “Lite” footage shot with my LX5 off and on in PProCS4 with mostly “good success”. By that I mean it will play fine for most part in sequences with 720p30 setting. On my CPU3 it will play fine in both source/program monitors. On CPU2 it shows constant “artifact blocks” throughout playback in source monitor, but fine in program monitor. I have a new CPU 1 – and these clips show constant artifact blocking in both source and program monitors. It does seem to export fine…but I’m not really interesting in looking at poor quality clips while editing etc..

  I’ve heard mixed feedback about using Ppro CS4 with 64 bit, and also some mixed feedback about the ATI HD 5770 card in particular…without going into details…some commentators prefer seem to prefer Nvidia generally for video editing if they had a choice between the two.

  Any thoughts/comments/advice on this would be appreciated. I would put myself in the moderately knowledgeable catagory on these topics…I’m not a “super gear freak”
