Hit a wall with a Pannasonic AG-HMC151 AVCCAM (PAL) and editing with Premiere Pro CS4. Basically want to get the AVCHD files into the program. I updated and received the AVC-Intra Presets however when starting a project and importing the files it tells me that the “File format not supported”. The .CPI files, with what I thought was the best program preset. So the files are PH720 720/50P settings so I tried all the AVC – Intra presets and still nothing works.

    Anyone offer any suggestions?

    Hi Colleen,

You’ll need to choose a preset from the ACVHD folder, not AVC-Intra, which is a higher-end Panasonic format totally different from AVCCAM.

AVCCAM is an AVCHD format. AVCHD isn’t a real edit-friendly codec and may require a powerful machine for smooth editing. One option is to look at the Cineform NeoScene codec, which will convert your AVCCAM clips to the Cineform codec which will require less overhead to edit and should provide a better experience, IF you have troubles with AVCHD.

I use MainConcept’s Mpeg Pro HD with the AVCHD plugin which works great, without having to convert the files first.
