AVCHD FCP 6.0.2
Posted by Scott Sutter on January 23, 2008 at 3:32 amI have AVCHD files transfered off the card, and put into a folder on the desktop. I launch FCP 6.0.2 running on an intel 2.66 quad, with the newest version of the OS (10.4.11) as well as the newest version of quicktime. For some reason when i open log and transfer and try to select the folders that these files are in nothing happens and FCP wont recognize the files? I know ive done it this way before but this was a few months back and i was running an older version of FCP and operating system. Anybody have any ideas. Thanks

January 23, 2008 at 3:50 am1)make sure you have the codecs/drivers from Panasonic:
https://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/support/software_downloads.asp
2) Upgrade fxfactory if you have it

3) uninstall Perian if you have it

Hi Jeremy, I’m having some trouble myself with this, and it’s not Perian or fxfactory. So on the link above, what software relates to AVCHD, other than a P2 transcoder for Windows?
Thanks…

March 3, 2008 at 4:40 amThanks, just making sure it wasn’t a DVD based camera.
Try bypassing the card reader by dragging the info off of the card on to your desktop or other hard drive. Even better yet, make a disk image from the card and you can archive that as well. It seems to me the card reader is to blame.

March 3, 2008 at 3:42 pmHey Bill, I have only done this twice, but when I did it worked. I copied the whole entire contents of the card, not just the one folder. I made a new folder, then dragged the entire contents of the card into that folder. It worked great. Make sure to go into the log and transfer prefs and choose which format you want to import the movie into. I suggest ProRes over AIC.

March 4, 2008 at 4:54 amNo worries. The log and transfer preferences are at the top right of the log and transfer window in a drop down menu that looks like a gear.
If that doesn’t work, let me know.
