AVC-Intra Offline and Finishing Options
I downloaded some AVC-Intra sample clips from the HPX3000 and was able to easily get them into FCP via Log and Transfer to ProRes HQ. It seems though that this is the highest quality codec that can be used.
I could technically output uncompressed 10-bit or DPX out of QuickTime Pro/Compressor (with Glue Tools) but neither program seems to be able to read the source timecode from the clips. I imagine this is because that information is embedded in the clip XMLs and log and transfer is able to merge that information…
Anybody know a workaround? Maybe a tool for Mac or PC that could facilitate some of this?

*UPDATE*
I managed to get DPX files with timecode out of Panasonic’s CMS tool but it automatically throws the images into a “LOG-like” gamma and, while this is technically okay, I would prefer more control over the gamma settings.

Unfortunately at this point in time, it’s tough on a Mac as the AVC-I codec that is downloaded from Panasonic gets interpreted as 8 bit RGB by Quicktime (but not log and transfer). I haven’t tested the P2CMS DPX workflow, so it might be worth a shot to see if P2CMS does the same.
Until (and if) Apple releases a codec in QT that will keep the codec 10bit YUV, going to ProRes (or HQ) will be your best bet on a Mac and FCP.
