I searched for posts on this, but still have questions.

I was tutoring a new Vegas user last night and was showing how easy it is to import pictures with automatic crossfades and then dragging to the time line to render and burn a DVD.

Each picture needs to match the output aspect ratio which can be done using the pan/crop tool, but since I as importing 100 images it was laborious.

What I recall is that it can be done when importing the image.
(I asked this three years ago and forgot)

I read there is a match aspect script which is for 5.0 but this is not the solution I recall. It went something like this: import an image- then change it to the correct aspect ratio, then do ??? and from then on all images will be correct.

We are on Vegas 8 and LOVING IT!

So what are my options with Vegas 8?

I’d like every still picture I import to match the output aspect ratio without manually fixing every photo.
    How can I do this?

    Thanks!

IMO, the “match aspect ratio” script is the easiest and, without buying something like Excalibur or Ultimate S, the cheapest solution.

You might seriously want to look at the montage capabilities of scripts like Ultimate S and Excalibur. You can look at a sample Video Scrapbook video to see how the task can be automated by letting the script automatically add Zooms, Pans, and even rotations to each image as well as applying the Match Aspect and Reduce Interlace Flicker options. Both scripts will simplify the process tremendously.
