Automatically Rename Comps by Linked CSV
Hello,
I’m currently trying to automate a project that is refreshed monthly and distributed. I have created a CSV that I’ve linked to the project that updates 90% of the data that changes.
However, it doesn’t change the names of the actual COMPS in the project. Each project has 30-40 different assets I render out individually.
it would be nice to have the CSV rename all the comps before I render since I have to rename every comp manually either before or post render. id like to make this streamlined so I can hand off the project and it be easily updated on a monthly basis.
Any Advice?

I’m almost certain you cannot rename comps using a script, but you might be able to use tokens. Expressions can only affect the property they’re applied to; unfortunately, there’s no way to automatically name your comps from a dataset via either expressions or tokens.
Instead, I’d suggest you can set your project up as a template, and use a product like CompsFromSpreadsheets to drive the creation of new comps with naming controlled in a column in the dataset:
