    Hey guys,

    I’m working on a fairly lengthy documentary that is being edited on Final Cut. It contains a fair bit of graphic and effects work that I was hoping to complete in After Effects.

    I’m trying to develop the best workflow for the project. Since Automatic Duck is out of budget, I found a make-shift alternative that may be as good:

    FCP -> AE

    – Final Cut ‘Export XML’
    – Premiere ‘Import XML’
    – Premiere ‘Save Project’
    – After Effects ‘Import Adobe Premiere Pro Project’
    – Animation / Compositing in After Effects
    – Pre-Render effects

    AE -> FCP

    – After Effects ‘Save Project’
    – Premiere ‘Import AEP’
    – Premiere ‘Export Final Cut Pro XML’
    – Final Cut ‘Import XML’

    Are there any known issues with this conversion method? I’m hoping it doesn’t scramble any basic effects or timing.

    Cheers,
    Adam

    It all depends on which version of Premiere, FCP and XML you use. The latest version is supposed to work.
