automatic 2d-3d conversion plugins:?
Posted by David Ghast on July 3, 2012 at 1:11 amI found one at yuvsoft.com but their faq says they wont sell to us lowly consumers, so anyone know of an automatic 2d-3d conversion plugin for AE, or similar program? (Roto is not an option…)

July 3, 2012 at 5:06 amI’m not sure if there is such a thing as automated 2D-to-3D. Such a solution will solve compositing issues such as rotoscoping and chroma keying.
Howzabout you pretend to be a huge conglomerate to them? 😉

July 3, 2012 at 1:28 pmIf you are talking about stereo 3D – well there are more than a few but they are very expensive, high end solutions.
If you are talking about taking a 2D image and doing the “Ken Burns” effect of making it 2.5D, that is a different process/concept all together. In that case you might want to check out Digieffects Depth Cue

July 4, 2012 at 12:39 amThat would be a 2 to 2.5d plugin now wouldnt it. Nevermind, ive tried almost every piece of software that claims to do this and they either only adjust the film plane (2.5d if you will) or they dont do anything at all. The hardware ones might work but then again im skeptical of the whole process. Oh well, i guess the elitists will dangle their vaporware over our heads while the rest of us find out better ways of getting stereo.

July 5, 2012 at 5:18 pmI don’t understand why you are expecting a cheap automatic solution.
Hollywood movie conversions do use automatic conversion. They use thousands of roto, paint, 3D and compositing artists to get the job done.
If the expensive automatic solutions aren’t good enough for them why would a cheap After Effect plug-in be any good?

December 17, 2012 at 11:09 pmyou are right there is no software out there to give you 3d roto is the best way to give you 3d and that take a long time to do because all a frames in a movie has to be change the 2d to 3d software out there are crap you are not going to get a 2d to 3d picture .
