Why cannot get the “automate”-“batch” utility in PS?
I’m a video editor and pretty savvy computer user.
It seems so non-intuitive, and when I go to help, I’m always lost.

I really need to batch process some files. Here is what I want to do:

Open a folder of tiff files, rotate each file horizontally, apply a dust filter, save it as a jpeg with the same name in the same folder. Not too hard!

    How do I do this?

    Thanks

    Larry

I used to do this all the time with debabelizer.

Using Photoshop CS / OSX 10.4.9

First record your action / create new set and action.

Then got to File / Automate / Batch /
select your set and action / Source-folder and Destination-folder
(you might like to create a new one) – click OK.

(I am not quite sure if one can batch-export from TIFF to JPG)

    Cheers

    Hi Larry,
In Photoshop you have to create the action first, that you want to “batch apply” (unless of course you want to use a preset).

1: Make sure the action window (or action tab) is visible . In the action window on the upper right hand corner, click on the small black triangle and choose NEW ACTION.
It’ll prompt you to name the new action. Give it a name that you later will remember.

2: OPEN one picture from the folder that you want to batch process, and apply whatever you need to ( rotate, filters… etc).

    3: SAVE the picture.

    4: CLOSE the window.

5: STOP RECORDING the action by clicking the black square at the bottom of the Action window.

6: Go to FILE….AUTOMATE….BATCH. In the window that’ll come up choose your action,
specify source and destination folder and click OK.

    Hope that helps.
