I’m looking to have a music background and, whenever someone speaks, the music will automatically fade so the voice is dominant and, when the person is done talking, the music will resume its previous volume level.

Is there something like this that already exists in Audition?

Yes, you will need to use envelpoes to do what you need here is a link that explaines how to create them …

I know how to create envelopes, I was wondering if there was a process that did it automatically… Doing some work with a buddy of mine at a radio station, they have processors that do this on the fly (the bed music volume is adjusted as the personality speaks over it).

It’s called “ducking” and it’s done with sidechain compression. As of right now, Audition will not natively do this. However, there are third party plug-ins that will. Google around for free VST compressors with sidechains. I hope Adobe will add something like this to the next version.
