Auto naming clips in Log and Transfer – FCP6
I’m sorry if this is simple, but I just can’t figure out how to automatically name all of my clips in the Log and Transfer window a particular name, that then increments. Ex (Company-Project-Shot-01, Company-Project-Shot-02, Company-Project-Shot-03, etc)
I have been using P2 content for the last 3 years, but my projects are usually small and not a ton of different clips. But I’m now on a project where the client wants to make a short doc of a country in Indonesia where they went and shot some footage on a consumer Sony camera in AVCHD. Everything is good for the picture and sound, but there are 100 different clips.
I’m on FCP 6.0.6
So I would love to be able to create naming preset hit a button or two and have the Log and Transfer window name it all and do the increments. Is this possible? I thought I’ve seen in somewhere and I know I’ve been in the stone age by naming every single file individually.

You can’t, unless you upgrade to FCP 7. That feature was released with FCP 7.

In the LOG and TRANSFER interface…in the logging area on the lowe right. There is a drop down menu that offers many automated naming choices. And you can customize this as well.
