    Hi all

I’m trying to create a lower third template in AE, to be used in Prem Pro, for a name field that auto resizes to the amount of characters entered.

I’ve gone through a few videos but they primarily use rectangles. The shape I need to have auto expand is similar to this image. However, the end curves need to remain that shape and un-warped so I’m trying to figure out how to program in an auto expand on the curved shape as the ‘Name Here’ is edited by the user.

I need the shape to expand and the text to remain the same size so responsive text isn’t an option for this.

Does anyone have any insights on how to achieve this at all? Thanks!

You could create the block as a rectangle, then create two shape layers above the block and the text (one pinned to the left edge, one pinned to the right) that knock out curves with Silhouette Alpha blend mode.
