Auto-detect erratic movement in clips and cut out?
Any DSLR filmmaker that films events will know what I mean – you have wobble, focus problems, erratic momvement at the beginning and the end of a clip when filming in the field. You’ll have to cut those out in editing software.
Do any of you know of a vegas plugin (it doesn’t even need to be vegas) that detects erratic camera movement and automatically removes those parts?

I’ve never seen a plugin for any NLE that will detect and delete bad video.

Yea, me neither – but after seeing the numerous “stabilizing” (CS 5.5, FCP) … I thought there would be some genius creating a detection algorythm.

The only “genius” I’m aware of is the one we were born with, i.e. our brain 🙂
I do my best to use a tripod as much as I can and not start shooting until I’m 100% ready.
Not to say that I don’t make mistakes because we all do but that’s why we have tools to get rid of the unwanted stuff.
