Auto connect NAS shares at starup macos Big Sur
The situation:
I run a Qnap NAS as a file server in my office environment. The NAS and all iMacs are connected to a Gigabit-Switch. To automatically connect network drives from the NAS at startup of an iMac I added the shared folder to “Startup-Items” in the user accounts.
The problem:
If the NAS is in standby mode when a user logs in, the connection attemp times out before the NAS can leave standby mode and an error message pops up stating the “Server is unavailable”.
But the NAS actually is available a couple of seconds later. It just needs a moment to spin up the drives.
Is there a possibility (terminal commandg or GUI) to set a longer timeout for macos to connect to a network share?
