Authoring Blu-Ray: What to do with 1080p 29.97 footage
I have feature movies that are 1080p 29.97fps. Blu-ray however does not support that resolution/frame rate.
I either have to make it 1080i or 720p 59.94. I don’t know what to do.
1080i has 1.2 the amount of pixils as 720p but I’m afraid of possible interlacing issues on TVs or monitors.
Here are my processes for each:
1080i: Modify my settings in compressor to export upper line (interlaced). Nothing else changes. About a 22 bit rate720p: Downscale to 720 with a better resize setting. Convert to 59.94 with a fast frame control setting. Using best for fps creates this really awful smoothing effect like what you see in new LED TVs.
Does anyone have a recommendation? Either I interlace footage or downscale and double the frame rate.
Also, bit-rate suggestions?
