    Hello,

    I hope someone can help me….

    I recently bought an Audix SCX1 on ebay, it was listed as the hypercardioid version; which is what I was looking for. When I got it and started testing it, it sure seems to me like it’s behaving as an omni. I am not an expert however….

    Since the SCX1 has different capsules, I’m wondering if there’s a way to tell if I got the hypercardioid or not. I don’t see any markings on the mic/capsule.

    And since I’m not an expert, I could just be doing something horribly wrong.

    if you listen to a person speaking via the mic with it pointing vertically up, and then point it down, if its omnidirectional you wont have a difference in the sound (apart from not being prone to pops and plosives when pointing upwards.
