Auditions in Event Browser

Okay I get that…could be useful but then how do you select your actual in and out points once you have the audition in the timeline.

As far as I can tell you can’t change ins and outs for an audition after it is created in an event (but of course you can once it is in the timeline.)

What I did was mark my favorites first for the shots and then in the browser view show favorites for the shots and then create auditions from there. That way the ins and outs are already set before making the audition.

Once you get your head around it, it can be very helpful for the right project. You can make a quick assembly edit, but know that in each shot you can swap out takes easily.

sorry can you talk me through that please….mark in and outs and then make favourite and then when you create an audition in Event Browser it disregards what is outside the in and out points of the favourites?

Here are the steps:

1. name and organize you shot and take clips as you like. (useing the metadata is easy, but you can name your clips with that info if you like)
2. Mark each take as a favorite. You may have multiple favorites per clip.
3. In the event browser choose show “Favorites” or hit control-f
4. Now all your favorites are actually individual takes. Select all clips in shot and create an audition for each scene/shot.
5. Assemble your scene by shot number in the timeline
6. You now have an assembled scene and you can switch between takes via auditions.

yes thanks…wow hard to get my head round that kind of workflow but for certain things I can see it’s brilliant tot be able to have all takes effectively “in” the timeline.
