AUDIOMIX left and right channel on both sides (Audio mixdown)
Dear professionals,
I want to mix my left and right audio channel in PPro 2:
I have recorded my left and right audiochannel with different microphones (on separate channels) and want to hear both channels on both sides (left and right as a mix).
I know you can ‘fill left / fill right’ but then you have only one channel on both sides. I would like to have both channels on both sides (for about 20 hours of material and clips) .I have searched the whole forum but couldn’t find the solution for this and hope some one can please give the answer.

First, I’m assuming you have 2 seperate audio files or you wouldn’t be asking that question.
I’ll give you two ways to do this.
For this method to work, you have to have a project with none of the audio in the timeline.
Select your first audio clip in the project window. Go to clip > Audio options > Source channel mappings.
Set track to Stereo and uncheck the “right” box, Ok it.
Select the other file uncheck the “left”.The second method is actually simpler, but could get you in trouble if you don’t name your tracks right.
Place your clips on two tracks, then simply using the audio mixer panel, pan one track left, and the other one right (pan knobs are on the top). Note that these tracks now have to be dedicated to these left and right audio clips.

I’m always working with this situation and have devised a format for it.
You will need to rename the audio layers.
Audio 1 = Left
Audio 2 = RightGo to the Audio Mixer;
In the renamed Left Layer add the effect – “Fill Left”
In the renamed Right Layer add the effect – “Fill Right”This process makes the entire length of the dedicated Layers to always Mono the Named Channel (Left or Right).
It becomes obvious which clips need to have audio duplicated (copied and pasted) underneath it self to make two audio clips one for the Left and the other for the Right Layer.

Vince: I don’t have two seperate audio files. I’ve just one stereo track on audio layer 1 (with left sound different from right sound).

In the Audio Mixer UI there is a little triangle twirly to the upper right below they Read drop box for audio track 1.
When this opens you can add effects that apply to the entire track forever. So the fill left will apply to any clip you put into that track. Same with the Right one. You won’t have to effect any clips as the track effect will apply it for you.
