  • Audio won’t play in the timeline when playing 2X

Hi everyone – This is probably a very easy question, but I can’t figure it out, and it is driving me crazy (maybe it is a bug with this version of FCP??)

When I play my clip down in my timeline at regular speed, the audio plays fine. When I play at double speed, there is no audio (or, it is not audible).

I’ve check in the audio / video settings – system settings, and user preferences, and can’t find any setting that will enable you to hear audio when playing down at double speed.

I’ve used the program for years, and have never come across this problem!

I am using FCP 6.0.5 on a 2G Intel Dual Macpro Laptop running 10.4.11. The clip is a DV-NTSC clip, audio at 48KHZ – very basic, nothing fancy!

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! – Thanks!

    Hi Jennifer

Check that you’ve not inadvertently toggled of Audio Scrubbing (Shift S, or View menu > Audio Scrubbing)

    Best

Wow! I just had the same problem. Thanks for the fix!
Why does FCP even have a turn off audio scrubbing feature? I actually remember accidentally hitting shift-s when I meant to hit shift-a.

    Thanks!
