Hey everyone, newb question here. Every time I bring a newly captured clip into a sequence it takes a few minutes to build the audio waveform on the timeline. During that period the system is sluggish and not very responsive. Is this just part of FCP or mayhaps I have a setting that needs adjusting. I always have “show audio waveforms” checked in Sequence Settings as well as a medium sized track. Thanks for any input.

Use Cmd-Opt-W to toggle the waveforms on and off. Turn them on when you need them. witch them off when you don’t. Yes, it takes processor cycles to read through the audio files and write the waveform.

    All the best,
