I am new to Avid editing. Could someone help me re: how to get the audio wave form of an audio clip (recorded on Sound Devives 202T and imported as clip in the Bin) shown on the source monitor of Avid Mediia Composer 3.5. I looked everywhere in the manual but could not locate the instructions for it. I know how this can be done on Final Cut Pro. I need to see the wave form on source monitor to mark IN and OUT points. I could get the wave form shown on the sequence timeline track.

To the bottom left of your Timeline, there’s a “Toggle Timeline” button, that will toggle between displaying the Timeline for the content of the Record Monitor and the content of the Source Monitor. If you toggle it to Source Monitor, you can then see the waveforms in the timeline (if you choose to have them displayed).

Sorry mate, you can’t display it in Avid the same way you do in Final Cut.

If I’m wrong I apologise, as I would love that feature too.

True, but once you switch to display source in the timeline you can display the waveform there. I remapped the Esc key (no modifier) to toggle timeline display between source and record. Personally I don’t miss viewing/editing in the source window.
