I’ve digitized a couple 30 minute clips in FCP. They were shot on DVCPRO 50 using the 24pa format. I then decided that I wanted to use Premiere Pro for this project, so I set up a project with the same specs as the files and imported them. When I began editing, I noticed the audio and video were out of sync. At first, I thought it might just be the Blackmagic hardware, so I exported a clip and it exported out of sync as well. I went back into the timeline and found that all I needed to do was move the audio over 3 frames for it to sync up properly. Is there a setting for this somewhere? Is this something I should expect out of Premiere?

Also, can Premiere digitize using the Panasonic AJ-SD93 DVCPRO 50 deck through firewire? I tried to get it to work, but no dice.

Using 2×2.8 Quad core Mac Pro, 16 GB ram, OS X 10.5.4. Premiere Pro v 3.2

Just figured out how to capture from the AJ-SD93… I’ve detailed my method below in case anyone is curious, but the video still looks bad in my video monitor…hmmm

Open the capture window, go to the settings tab, click on edit, choose capture from the left-hand list of options, choose Quicktime from the pop-up menu, click on video, go to the source tab, and AJ-SD 93 is an option there.

In order to get device control, I chose DV/HDV Device Control in the Device control box pop-up menu, then clicked on options and used these settings: NTSC, Panasonic, Alternate 1, Auto Detect.
