Audio & Video Stutters on Playback (Xpress Pro 4.6.6 on G5)

I checked the avid-l forum for solutions to my problem, but unfortunately the solutions I found did not work. I also checked the creative cow archive with no success. So I thought maybe someone on the forum might have an idea.
I have had a reoccuring problem that arises every 6-8 months (video and audio stutters on playback) and I have been able to fix it by reinstalling the software many times until it works. But unfortunately this isn’t working and I have tried regularly for a week now.
The post I found in the archives suggested that it’s the pci card, so I installed a second card with no positive results. I swapped out the firewire cable going to the Mojo and checked that it had reference.
There was one suggestion that sounded promising, which was to uninstall the Flamethrower.sys driver and “allow the driver to reload via the hardware wizard during the boot up process”.
Unfortunately, this was a suggestion for PC users which I attempted to apply to my situation since I am on a Mac G5 xpress version 4.6.6. But I was not able to locate the flamethrower system driver, only the flamethrower bundle which does not contain a driver.
Does anyone know the equivalent Mac solution. If not, does anyone have suggestions on how to solve this conundrum. Flamers need not reply.

What happens if you just playback video? what happens if you playback audio? do they stutter by themselves? Or only when you playback both?
What is your drive config. and are the drives full/fragmented?

Hi,
We’ve got Avip Xpress Pro 4.3.1 on G4 and are currently experiencing the same problem you discribe. Naturally, we have a deadline for state-wide air TODAY! Anyway, I was wondering if you ever figured out what was going on. We unhooked our Mojo and that fixed the stuttering problem…we are pretty sure it’s actually a Firewire issue, but the graphics tearing is still a problem. Any information would be appreciated.Thanks!
