Audio & Video both skipping.
I have used vegas since 3.0. Using 5.0 now. I’ve had this computer 1 1/2 yrs without problem. Yesterday when printing to tape from the timeline all of my renders skipped on both the audio and video.
I have 2 200G HD’s with plenty of room. After trying all I could I found that all video & audio on the video drive is now skipping. Even playing in Win Media Player. Vegas is rendering out ok because once rendered to the video drive if I move the file to the system drive it plays find. Everything on the system drive works fine. What would cause this? It looks like the data transfer rate has dropped on that drive to where it can’t play audio or video without skipping. It will transfer well enough to move the file to other drive. Any ideas?

Did the drive change from DMA to PIO? That could do it.

Thank you Edward for the response. The Primary IDE channel has device 0 current mode Ultra DMA Mode 5 and device 1 currently as PIO. The Secondary IDE channel has device 0 current mode as ultra DMA Mode 2 and device 1 currently as PIO. Would that be it?

Depends on what’s connected to each one. If any of the PIOs have hard drives connected, that’s your problem. You might try changing one or the other or both to DMA (if it will let you) and see what happens.
