  Audio Track Confusion

  Its 6 years since i last touched Media Composer, and now i have re-installed the MC6 demo, i’m finding the audio is behaving in a really puzzling and annoying way.

  I have a voice track which came in as two separate mono tracks for left and right. This is then placed onto tracks 1 and 2 in the timeline, and i selected the link option to allow for easier cutting and moving.

  Then i used the edit tool to split out a phrase and used the segment tool to drag it to tracks 3 and 4.

  Now the problem occurs – if i reselect the phrase on track 3/4, it also reselects the original track on the layers above. The only way i can avoid this is by switching the link option off, but then this unlinks everything across the whole timeline and not the individual tracks.

  I have tried switching auto patching off but that isn’t making any difference.

  Please can someone tell me what i’m doing wrong!
