  • Audio synced in AE but off in render

Posted by Ryan Daily on March 1, 2008 at 2:39 am

In Cs3 on a x64 xp workstation when I preview the comp the audio syncs up great in the RAM preview but when I render it out it is off by almost a half second and it seems to get worse further down the timeline.

I have tried 44 and 48k versions of the audio in both aif and wav.

The only thing that seems to work is rendering it out to WMV.

Has anyone experienced this or does anyone know how to fix it? I am stumped.

For the record I ran the same test in AE7 and did NOT have the problem.

    Thank you in advance…

I have never experienced audio being off by the amount you are saying, but I have noticed audio in my render being off by a couple frames. I never had any audio sync issues before upgrading to cs3. I noticed differences in sync depending on which output format I rendered to. I normally do uncompressed avi.

your audio may not actually be synced in AE.

Try reducing the display size to 50% and the quality to half, and see if it still is ram previewing synced.

I have found over the years that what looks synced in AE isn;t always, and reducing the resources needed to play it back will show the problems better.

In the short run, you could always just shift your audio down in time to match. It’s not the best solution, but it is the fastest.
