Audio sync problem in FCP 7 not in FCP 6. Not a FCP 7 flaw?
I’m having audio sync trouble with FCP 7 that is not a problem in FCP 6.
(All works fine on FCP 6 system but runs out of sync over time on FCP 7)
I’ve read strings pointing to everything from recorders not having a “good” internal clocks to inappropriate audio bit rates.I’m not finding people pointing to a flaw in FCP 7 as being the problem.
(I thought to recapture to 7 but didn’t see strings on that being the issue)Thoughts on what I’m overlooking?
(Hoping for help as I am trying to include a new MacBook Pro 2.8 i7 in the edit mix that only runs snow leopard and FCP 7)
(current workflow)
Running on a 2.8GHz 8core MacPro tower w/10gigs of ram. latest leopard OS and latest studio 2 on one HD with another HD running latest snow leopard and latest studio 3.
2 Sony tape HDV, 2 canon tape HDV, 2 samson zoom H2.

Drag and drop imports on H2 aif files 16 bit @ 44.1 (I now see is wrong to do but worked fine with FCP 6)Although I’m lucky to have married the one that has both, I have found:

Your zoom files must be converted to 48 khz (16 or 24 bit). Threads about sync are so common here and mostly they are sample rate issues or more commonly frame rate.
Read Matt Lyons tutorial here to make sure you are importing audio assets with the correct frame stamp. (second half of the article. First half shows a way to correct a project where the mistake has been applied)
