Ok…Sync…One of the most boring issues to post about. But I can’t seem to find an answer for this anywhere and it is driving me nuts.

I have a 23.98 HD PROREZ 422 QT of a film that plays fine in QT player but will not play in sync in FCP. It is incrementally out and appears that FCP will only recognise the audio as 24fps. So by the end of the film sync is out by a sec or so.

I have tried all the different EASY SETUPS as explained in other posts to force FCP to read the audio as 23.98 but it doesn’t appear to be able to do so. It is as if the Media is 23.98 but is stamped with 24fps meta data that I can’t override. I have exported an XML file which says the media is NTSC but 24fps.

I have created new projects and reimported but still no luck.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

[I have already thought of the one involving my foot and the screen BTW]

    Hi Dan

Check the sampling rate of your source audio vs sampling rate setting of your sequence. Do they match?

    Hi Andy

Yes they do match. The master file is plays out of sync even in the source window. Back in the finder however it is fine. There must be something in my FCP settings that is causing this.
