Audio sync issue
Hello all,
I’m experiencing a problem with out of sync audio on a few tapes i’ve captured. Some of the tapes are fine, and some are out of sync by about 3 or 4 frames, they don’t slip out of sync or anything they just start out a few frames off. Shot 1080 24pA, used the capture setting 1080 24pA. Capturing on a AJ-HD1400 deck. Like i said before most of the tapes are in sync, i was wondering if this could be a sound syncing issue on location or does it have to do with my set up? I’s capturing through an Imac onto 1 TB LaCie hard drives. At first i thought it may have been a capturing blunder on my part but i thought it would gradually get worse as the tape played on but once adjusted by the 3 or 4 frames, the tape stays in sync for the duration. One other thing i thought was odd was on a tape that was out of sync, i did a batch capture of 2 clips from the tape, the first clip out of sync by 3 frames the second clip was in sync? any thoughts? Side note…
I was just reading up on some other threads with audio sync issues and i noticed someone said to capture a tape in increments? we basically have 30 minute interview tapes and for the most part unless there is a camera break i’ve been capturing the tape as an entire clip. Should i break each tape up into 3 clips? The one tape that i captured in 2 clips had a long clip that was 3 frames out of sync and the shorter clip was in sync. on another side not i did try capturing a small chunk of a tape that was a little out of sync and even in a small chunk it still appeared to be out of sync so maybe not? Thanks
