    hi there, and thanks again.

    final cut pro 3
    500Mhz power pc G3
    640 mb sdram

    sony hc40e (pal)

and again, i wonder, how is the audio rate -not having touched any setting- set at 48 khz sometimes records at 47994.2?

also i was going to buy the new mac intel cuore but the retail seller told me they are still not working with final cut… is this true? when do you think they will start working? sorry if this is not the place to post this kind of question.

    best, always.

Sorry, I can’t help with the audio question. I haven’t had any problems with that, but others have…maybe they can help.

As for the Mac Mini and FCP:

Why drop $1200 on an application, only to buy the lowest end Mac to run it on? Makes no sense. If you can’t afford a better mac, then shuffle money around and get Final Cut Express ($300) so that now you have an additional $800 (+$500 you were going to spend on the mini) for a total of $1300. Use that to get a G5 tower. Refirb if need be (that is what I did). That way you will have the better equipment for when you can afford to buy FCP.

Since all you will be editing is DV anyway, FCE is a good choice.
