I mostly use Adobe Audition for my Audio processing needs.

I used the denoiser in Sound Forge for many years, and always got good results. These days I use Izotope RX which also produces very good results.

As others have pointed out, iZotope RX2 is the tool of choice. Sony Noise Reduction is an older plug-in that comes with Sony Sound Forge and does pretty well but nothing beats iZotope RX2.

The human voice roughly lies between 80Hz to 3KHz but I would only boost those frequencies if the background noise doesn’t lie in that area. Otherwise you will be boosting the noise as well.
