  • Audio problems with an Avid Xpress Studio suite system

    Hi,

We have an HP wx8200 workstation running a full Avid Xpress Studio suite (Xpress Pro 4.6, Protools LE, Avid DVD, Avid FX and Avid 3D). We Also have a Mojo and a Digi002 console, as well as a Panasonic DVCPro50 deck, attached to the system.

Now, the audio seems to works fine as long as we work in either Xpress Pro or ProTools LE. However, we can’t get any sound whatsoever from any other aplication, or even from Windows itself. There’s no sound on the Quicktime Player, or the Real Player, or on After Effects, or Audition (which we also have on the system); nothing. The only time audio seems to work is within Avid Xpress or ProTools. It won’t even play back audio within Avid DVD.

I don’t know if this is a problem with our hardware, the drivers, or the way the machine is configured. We’ve tried fiddling with all the audio device settings in the Windows XP control panel and nothing seems to work… Any idea what the problem might be and how it might be solved?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Javier.

I think the application must access the drivers via WDM [mostly DAW applications] and not your typical DirectShow.
