    Hey all!

I know this question is a bit more boring than your usual lot of interesting questions, but I’ll fire anyway and hope I can get some help.

I’ve been editing a short for about a month now on and off again and everything was going quite well when suddenly today as I was trying to get some cut points for my clips I noticed I got 0 audio when using the right and left arrows to advance frame by frame. Not only would I not get any play back, but I also don’t get a reading out on the pots. As you know, getting a reading for each frame of audio on those pots is key to keep the audio sounding nice and even 🙂

So any help I could get on this would be great, he’s some quick technical specification just you so you know what I’m dealing with. Not the best stuff in the world, but it’s for fun and I’m a poor college sudent 🙂

Shot with a Panasonic DVX100a in 24p mode (scene five I believe it is, could be wrong though)
Captured on to a G4 Powerbook with 1.25 GB of RAM
Final Cut Pro HD, version 4.5

I don’t know if you guys need any other information. I know the tip of the iceberg for technical stuff, so I’m more than willing to learn a little bit to get this back to the way it used to be. I haven’t been working on any other projects or using Final Cut for any other purpose other than this piece. I edited this weekend last and now today, no audio in the frame by frame.

Thanks again for any help you can offer!

No, I’ve never heard that in my life. But why don’t you try pressing shift+s. That turns scrubbing on/off. Is that all you’re asking? Surely it’s not that simple, with it being right there in the menus and all. But maybe that’s all it is.

That was it, I can’t beleive I missed that! Thanks so much, sorry to have taken up space on your forums 🙂

    Thanks again, Bret!

I was a little confused because you also said you’re not getting audio on playback. But I guess you misspoke or I misunderstood. Maybe that’s why nobody else said it was shift+s. Glad that worked.
