  • Audio Preview in Premiere CS4

Hi, New guy here. Can someone tell me if I can preview and adjust audio input levels during capture? I just recently installed Pro CS4 and I ran a test using video and audio from a DVD. The audio from the DVD player is routed through a mixer and then through a Canopus ADVC 110 analog to digital conversion box. The audio from the Canopus outputs through a firewire to my MAC G5. Hoping someone can help?

    Thanks!

Can someone help me with previewing audio levels during capture in Premiere Pro CS4. I’ve been able to capture video and audio but do not know how to adjust the audio levels during capture. Hoping someone out there can help?

    Thanks!

No, Adobe (wrongly in that case) assumes that because it is digital, you don’t need it.

If you have a copy of Onlocation, you can monitor the input level during capture there.

But doesn’t your mixer have an output level meter?

Set your trim and make sure the output switch is on line level, then keep it from going into the red.

    Thanks for the reply Vince,

I’ll follow your suggestions. Yes, my mixer has vu readouts but the output from the mixer does not match the final record levels after capturing which is why I wanted to view Premiere’s audio levels prior to as well as during capture. Any idea why I can’t see the audio line levels during capture? I thought that this version allows for that?

I think you may be thinking of the track input channel, which shows the levels when recording to the timeline (audio only).

I don’t think CS4 has levels with video capture. It is still new here, so I’ll look around…
