Audio Playback Problems

February 25, 2023 at 8:23 pmRunning FCPX 10.6.5 on a Mac Studio running Ventura 13.2.1
One camera shoot, one audio source (wireless lav)
During editing and playback the audio often drops out and lags behind (out-of-snc). All random. Starting and stopping playback help a little but not much. Audio waveform is present. What could be the issues causing this. Possible solutions.
This audio issue is new. Hasn’t happened in the past.
THANKS for you feedback.

February 25, 2023 at 8:52 pmWhat is the format and sample rate of the audio?
What is the format of the video?
What “percentage” of your system drive is free space?

February 25, 2023 at 9:33 pmVideo format is 4K MOV audio probably 44.1khz. Many came just stated ALC. Same formate I’ve used for the past 6 years. On the system drive I have about 25% free space.

February 26, 2023 at 11:14 pmAny filters or effects on the video or audio? Some plugins (even a few of the built-in ones) carry a heavy processing penalty and could cause something like this. If so, you could try to disable those on the timeline clips to see if playback improves.

February 27, 2023 at 12:11 amI’m lead to believe this is the case. I’m using a 3rd partly plug-in Luca VisualFX Image Sharpener along with a vignette. Turning them off does help a bit. On the audio I’m using CrumplePop Denoiser and Compressor.

March 9, 2023 at 6:44 pmI use CrumplePop audio plugins, and never had any playback issues on any of the Macs in the TV station I ran production for.
