  • Audio playback is fine with some tapes and “Gargley” with others

    Hello,
I received a batch of 36 mini DV tapes that were used to record a week-long seminar.
For the most part, they have been capturing and playing back fine.

However, a handful of them sound perfectly fine while I am capturing them but when I
play the file back in Final Cut Pro it sounds “gargly” or as if the speaker is under water.

I’m just confused because like I said, most of the tapes are ok, but some of them sound
horrible. I checked the capture frame rate and the rate of the audio on the tapes to make sure
the settings are the same but still having issues.

Also, is it possible that these were recorded in LP mode, and maybe that has something to do with it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks for your response, Dave.
The tapes sound absolutely fine when I play them.
