  Audio pitch when speeding up videos.

  I just noticed that when using a media player to watch a video at a faster rate, the pitch of audio changes slightly, but when speeding up a video using premiere pro, the audio pitch changes significantly. I know that we can use audio mixing to correct it but I was just wondering why this happens?
