OK. Audio over firewire is possible by a lot of apps, if you’re thinking about a piece of software and a hardware audio interface. I only have direct experience with ProToolsLE.
Perhaps someone else can toss in here or resort to some googling.

October 6, 2008 at 5:34 pmI would recommend the M-Audio family of Firewire audio interfaces. I have the M-Audio Firewire Solo. It was inexpensive and sounds decent. I use it with Soundtrack Pro, Peak and a few other programs and it works well. Simple two channel I/O with decent mic pre-amps.
