Audio no Video in FCP 6
I’m pretty new to using HD footage in Final Cut Pro. I’m using XDCAM footage so I imported the clips into XDCAM Transfer, made them quicktime files, opened final cut pro, and set the setting to XDCAM easy setup (24p). When I play the videos I can only hear the audio and not see the video, the screen is white. FCP also won’t let me render clips. Any advice?

Do you have the latest version of FCP 6? If not then update and see if that fixes the problem. White screen probably means you don’t have the XDCam codec installed. A lot happened in version 6 with XDCam so you might just have a version too early

There are 2 different kinds of XDCAM codecs in FCP:
- XDCAM HD
- XDCAM EX
XDCAM EX codecs are more recent than XDCAM HD. To edit XDCAM EX in FCP you need the following minimum requirements:
- FCP 6.0.2
- Quicktime 7.3.1
- Mac OS 10.4.11
