Audio Monitoring
My company has a D700 which they want me to use to film a conference with. I’ve finally got hold of it to find it doesn’t have a headphone jack. I purchased an AV to headphone adaptor cable hoping this would work but when I connect the headphones to it the whole camera shuts itself down.
Can anyone help? I need to be able to listen to the audio whilst filming and have no idea how to do this.
I apologise for the potential stupidity of this question, in my defence I’ve never used a DSLR to film before.

Have you considered recording the audio double system– with a separate audio device and microphone– you’ll get better sound.
A simple slate or handclap (on camera) will let you easily sync up.
